Nottingham Wedding Harpist | Christine Palethorpe | About

Since graduating from the University of Surrey with a first class Bachelors of Music Christine has launched her career as a professional harpist for weddings and events all over the UK. Christine plays a rare and versatile cross-strung harp which is the perfect tool to bring popular covers to life in a unique way without the restrictions of a classical concert harp. She is particularly sought after for her skillful and emotion-fueled arrangements of modern music as well as jazz, folk, classical, soundtracks and bollywood with a repertoire of over 4 hours stored in her memory. During a meal or drinks reception guests are often surpised by her impressive and emotive renditions of music which you'd never expect to hear on a harp.

After taking to the piano from a young age Christine set about acheiving an ABRSM Grade 8 and was soon writing and arranging her own music. Her adaptations of popular music for the piano have since been viewed over half a million times on Youtube. She went on to study at the University of Surrey who's music department ranks 2nd in the UK where she achieved a first class Bachelors of Music. Leaning towards modern and popular styles and the creativity and freedom they allow, she is not typically found in a classical, orchestral setting but has a busy diary of weddings, functions and corporate events; performing as both a harpist and pianist.

As well as performing Christine has composed for short films, video games and live shows. She is well educated in audio technology which lends itself well to her work as a live musician, ensuring a loud and clear sound with top quality amplification. Professional, friendly and responsive, she is happy to guide clients through the process of hiring a musician with a clear and simple booking procedure.
